🧧 Post-Monsoon Mood Boost in Mumbai: Edamame, Fireworks & Fine Dining at Eight

Mumbai in early September has a certain softness — monsoon mist still lingering in the air, city lights glistening off rain-washed streets, and a sense of anticipation before the festive chaos begins. I spent a few days soaking it all in at the iconic St. Regis Mumbai, with direct access to the ultra-chic Palladium Mall — and with it, one of my favorite Asian restaurants: Eight.
🍜 Eight Restaurant — Pan-Asian Elegance Inside Palladium Mall

Tucked inside Palladium, the luxury mall connected to St. Regis via a short private corridor, Eight is a beautifully designed Pan-Asian restaurant from the same chain as the one I visited earlier at Phoenix Mall Bengaluru.
Think:
🏮 Red lanterns floating under a domed ceiling
🪑 Classic carved wood chairs with patterned upholstery
🧧 Immersive, softly lit spaces that feel almost cinematic
It’s a calm oasis above the hustle of Lower Parel.
My Midday Mood-Lifter:
🫛 Salt-kissed edamame
🍲 Miso soup — warm, umami-rich, and grounding
🧃 A tall glass of fresh green juice
🌶️ A curated tray of dipping sauces (my kind of edible paint palette)
Perfect for when you're not quite in the mood for a full feast, but still want to treat your palate.
🌇 The Bonvoy Perks & Skyline Views

Staying at St. Regis Mumbai always delivers — and as a Titanium Elite Bonvoy member, I had access to the lavish Seven Kitchens breakfast buffet, but opted instead for this à la carte experience at Eight.
From my suite, I had uninterrupted views of the Mahalaxmi Racecourse, lush and glowing under post-rain clouds. On the final night, the city unexpectedly lit up with pre-Navratri fireworks, glittering over the skyline like a spontaneous celebration.
✨ Why This Combo Works
🍽️ Dining at Eight gives you Asian fine-dining elegance in a mall setting — without sacrificing ambiance.
🛏️ St. Regis is one of the few hotels in Mumbai that offers direct luxury retail access — a true high-rise retreat with built-in shopping and dining.
🎇 Visiting just before Navratri means you catch the mood shift: from serene monsoon to festive Mumbai energy.
